Allow us to put in a good word
for the Catholic Press

cpa100years2.jpg
MEMBERS of the Catholic Press Association (CPA) in North America are preparing to attend their annual convention. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Catholic Press Association of the U.S. and Canada. The Catholic Press plays a vital role in the life of the Church. The Catholic publishers, editors, writers, photographers, illustrators, marketers, webmasters, and readers who make up the Catholic Press are "irreplaceble," said Pope Benedict XVI in his 2010 address to the Catholic Press Congress last October in Rome. The task of members of the Catholic press, said Benedict, is to help contemporary readers orient themselves to Christ and keep the flame of hope burning in the world. That is no small task!

In fact, as the Pope points out, communication is at the core of Christian belief: "The Word made flesh is at the same time the message of salvation and the means by which salvation is realized."

Support the Catholic media by being faithful--as readers, listerners, writers, bloggers, broadcasters--whatever role you play. Challenge the press and challenge yourselves to search for truth with what Benedict describes as "passionate minds and hearts."
