More than 22,000 attend National Catholic Youth Conference--VISION sponsors WII and flash drive raffles

VISION was among the many exhibitors at the National Catholic Youth Conference held this past week in Kansas City which boasted record attendance. More than 22,500 teenagers accompanied by youth ministers and chaperones from dioceses around the country participated in the three-day event. It was high energy and lots of fun to meet so many enthusiastic and POLITE young men and women.

VISION sponsored the U.S. Bishops' Wii raffle and its own flash drive raffles and gave away thousands of purple pens. We'd like to offer a special thanks to Sr. Marie Mason of the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary for her help in getting our pens into the hands of passersby who were loaded down with pins, bracelets, bookmarks, prayer cards, necklaces, sunglasses, hats, bags, and just about any other promotional item you can imagine.

A not-to-be missed event for anyone needing a reminder that another great generation of Catholics is living the faith and poised for leadership.

National Religious Vocation Conference executive director asks bishops to support vocations

IN HIS REPORT TO THE BISHOPS about the landmark vocation study sponsored by the National Religious Vocation Conference (NRVC), Holy Cross Brother Paul Bednarczyk, NRVC executive director, appealed to the bishops to:

  • Meet with the leaders of the religiious communities in their dioceses and to express their support of individual men and women religious.
  • Make vocation promotion to diocesan priesthood and religious life a priority
  • Create a component in diocesan vocation offices for promoting vocations to consecrated life.

Several bishops offered comments following the talk about the importance of using the internet to promote vocations and the need for bishops to offer encouragement and love to those in religious life.
